Welcome to Parents Night!

Welcome to Parents Night!

If you are here, you have the unique opportunity to learn about some of the platforms used to communicate with both students and parents.

(Non-subliminal message #1: Make sure your son/daughter registers for Spanish next year).

If you leave your e-mail address with Mr. Gelder, that is one way to receive critical information about assignment due dates and other matters of curriculum.  If you are not here, you can e-mail your address to: Richard.Gelder@hwdsb.on.ca.

For more frequent updates, check back with this blog.

Hopefully, your son/daughter has familiarized her/himself with the curricular platforms of the course, being chiefly the D2L platform, which has course lessons in electronic form, homework assignments, as well as the "Drop Box" for assignment submission.

(Non-subliminal message #2: Make sure your son/daughter registers for German next year).

Also, much oral work is done on the Xpresslab platform.  Students are greatly encouraged to access these platforms from home on a routine basis!

Mr. Gelder is currently teaching three classes: FSF1D1-21 and 23 (both grade nine academic classes for which most homework assignments will be identical) and FSF3U1-22 (grade 11 university).

As it stands, there are homework assignments for BOTH grades pending.

FSF 1D1

Students have been asked to write a few sentences describing themselves using the irregular adjectives and and expressions of activity they have been learning in the first couple of weeks of the course.  This written assignment (Five-six sentences maximum) is to be uploaded to the drop box on the course D2L site.

FSF3U1

Students have been asked to write a series of paragraphs totalling approximately 150 words describing what they did in French class in grade 10.  The point is to assess their current understanding of expressing themselves in the past, using both the past tense and the imperfect.  This written assignment is to be uploaded to the appropriate drop box on the course D2L.

Students are asked to respect the soft "deadline" of Tuesday, February 17th for submission of these assignments, recognizing that not everyone has equal access to the internet.
